MakerBot Method X – Carbon Fibre Edition

Giving you the power to print strong, heat-resistant metal replacement parts

Developed from the ground up featuring patented Stratasys® technologies – you can now print carbon fiber reinforced nylon and other engineering-grade composite parts with three dimensional strength and accuracy like never before on METHOD’s unique industrial desktop platform.

The Makerbot Method X Carbon Fibre edition takes a top-of-the range Method X 3D printer and pairs it with a revolutionary new extruder that has been redesigned to work with Makerbot’s new Nylon Carbon Fibre material.

The heated build chamber can reach 110 degrees Celcius which helps increase the strength of the part, and the machine is also cable of printing a variety of  popular materials as well.

Benefits of MakerBot Method X – Carbon Fiber Edition

Powered by Stratasys®.

  • Carbon fiber reinforced nylon is optimized for high strength, stiffness, and heat resistance making it ideal for structural applications and metal replacements
  • METHOD’s unique industrial feature set produces carbon fiber parts with superior three dimensional strength and accuracy
  • Carbon fiber reinforced nylon 6/66 blend for high strength to weight ratio and heat resistance. For max performance in controlled environments.

MAKERBOT NYLON CARBON FIBER (6/66) – Highest peak performance characteristics:

  • 184°C Heat deflection temperature
  • 110 MPa Tensile Strength
  • 7600 MPa Tensile Modulus
  • Nylon (6/66) Carbon Fiber has the highest peak performance in all categories, it is significantly affected by moisture which will reduce both strength and modulus.

Specifications based on data provided by the material supplier.   Actual printed part specs may vary based on part geometry and print parameters selected.

–

MAKERBOT NYLON 12 CARBON FIBER Highest peak performance characteristics:

  • Carbon fiber reinforced nylon 12 provides the easiest carbon fiber composite 3D printing experience thanks to superior moisture resistance. For consistent performance in any environment.
  • 154°C Heat deflection temperature

  • 66 MPa Tensile Strength

  • 6000 MPa Tensile Modulus

  • Nylon 12 Carbon Fiber is less affected by moisture and will retain more of its performance in the presence of moisture.
